Lost Heroes: a beach club team building in Dubai
Lost Heroes is an outdoor team building that SL PEOPLE EVENTS runs at beach clubs in Dubai and across the UAE. The group is divided into teams, each team chooses a captain and a name, and each captain receives a route sheet with its own sequence of challenges. Teams rotate through the stations on a timer run by the facilitators, so every team plays everything but no two teams ever queue for the same station. The challenges are short, physical and built around props rather than sport: a sprint through an agility ladder, a tennis ball passed with a frying pan, a search in the sand with eyes covered and etc. It runs in English and Russian.
Lost Heroes
A beach is the one venue in Dubai where people stop behaving like colleagues. Shoes come off, the dress code disappears, and the person who runs a department suddenly has sand on their knees. That is most of the work done before the first challenge even starts.
Lost Heroes takes that and gives it a shape. The facilitator divides the group into teams, each team picks a captain and invents a name for itself, and the captain receives a route sheet: the order of challenges for that team and nobody else. From that point the beach works like a set of stations. The facilitators keep the timer, a horn ends each round, and every team moves on to the next point on its own sheet. Nothing waits, nothing queues, and all the teams are playing at the same time.
The challenges are deliberately not sport. Sport rewards the person who already plays it, and the point of the day is the opposite. So the obstacle course in the sand is run as a relay where everyone takes a leg. Tennis is played without rackets: the team gets a book, a frying pan, a cutting board and a mouse pad, and the ball has to reach the finish line through all of them. Half the team puts on sleep masks and searches the sand for buried markers while the other half shouts directions from the outside — then the masks change hands. Football is played in goggles that turn the world upside down, which makes a confident striker look exactly as lost as everyone else, and that is the moment the group starts laughing.
Points are added up across every station. The teams come back together, the results are read out, and because the challenges were short and the rotation was tight so nobody spent standing and watching.
